It's well known that one of the most financially taxing parts of raising a child is in the first few years before the potty training begins. Your shopping list frequently finds diapers and wipes written on it as the average baby will use about 6,000 diapers in their first two years of life according to ParentingMode. Below is my list of 7 Savvy Ways to Save Money on Diapers so you can keep your sweet one clean and dry and your wallet happy.
Target Circle // If you find yourself at Target on a weekly basis (I may be guilty), reap the reward by joining the free Target Circle program. Along with great deals on all products, they frequently have coupons or incentives on diaper and baby wipe purchases. These vary from money saving coupons, such as $5 off a box of diapers, or a $20 dollar gift card when you spend $100 on diapers and/or wipes. Simply enter your phone number during checkout to access your savings....and maybe buy something for yourself with that gift card.
Pampers Club // If you're a loyal Pampers junkie, make sure you take advantage of the Pampers Club app - available in your phone app store. Simply scan the QR code located on each package of Pampers diapers or wipes and receive Pampers cash in return. Extra cash bonuses are also available within the app, such as a $2 reward for your first scan and a $5 reward for your third. Once you save enough in Pampers cash, redeem your rewards for up to $30 off Papers products through your favorite retailer including Target, Amazon, CVS and more.
Amazon // You can find anything on Amazon from the comfort of your couch and diapers are no different. With Amazon's subscribe and save program, you can save 5%-15% on each auto shipment - 15% off must meet a minimum order quantity. Auto shipping frequency ranges from every 2 weeks to every 6 months with the option to skip a delivery or end your subscription at any time. Save even more with current promotions that offer a certain dollar amount or percentage off on your first subscribe and save order for brands such as Pampers, Huggies, and The Honest Company.
Dyper Diapers // For the conscientious mama, Dyper diapers are chemical and irritant free and made of chlorine-free fluff pulp and bamboo viscose. Save $10 per order by subscribing to their monthly diaper box, ranging from 204 diapers per box to 108 diapers per box depending on your child's size and weight. The shipping frequency is completely customizable to your needs and can be cancelled or delayed at any time with no added fee. Need more convincing? Save even more by joining their free perks program. Earn perks points by joining their subscription service, following their social media outlets and more. Perk points can be converted into cash discounts or free products!
Bulk Stores // Bulk stores, such as Sam’s Club or Costco, provide huge saving on name brands such as Pampers & Huggies. They also provide their own brand with Sam’s club carrying Members Mark and Costco carrying Kirklands - which is a mom favorite! These big box stores due require a yearly membership which can be costly to some, but I do think it evens itself out with the amount of savings you’ll receive on items. If you don’t need things in bulk other than diapers, I would say the membership isn’t worth the price and better to find savings in one of the other ways I’ve listed.
Cloth Diapers // If you want to cut out trashed diapers all together and limit your contribution to landfills, reusable cloth diapers might be for you. And these aren’t your mom’s cloth diapers, as most newer designs are just as easy as disposable diapers with their washable liners and waterproof outer shells. Just make sure you have the energy and laundry capabilities to take on the extra work. Another consideration is that most daycares don’t allow cloth diapers, which might necessitate a switch in the future. If none of these turn you off of the idea, Esembly Organic Cloth Diapers are highly rated & feature an organic cotton inner liner and a waterproof outer shell which comes in a plethora of cute designs! You can build your own set or purchase one of their bundles. They also have a perks program which allows you to cash in points for products and discounts…an added money saving bonus!
Baby/Diaper Shower // A baby registry is a great place to request multiple sizes and boxes of diapers along with all of your other baby necessities. I'd recommended requesting all sizes to get you through year 3, typically newborn/size 1 through size 5/6. A good starting point would be 2 boxes of each size at around the 100-count quantity - maybe an extra box or two for the smaller size as you’ll go through them quicker. This won't stop you from ever buying diapers but will save you money and extra trips to the store. Personally, my favorite brand is Pampers, as they also have overnight diapers which are more absorbent - a life saver when you're finally getting back to full nights of sleep! And don't forget your wipes! I love Pampers Aqua Pure wipes, but whatever your favorites are be sure to ask for a few boxes of the 560 count. We we're given so many wipes that we didn't have to start buying wipes till the 1-year mark! If you already have your baby necessities, a diaper shower is a great way to celebrate your little one while stocking up on the one thing you can’t pass down, diapers.
